Leadership in Public Organizations provides a comprehensive treatment
of public sector leadership. The text provides a review of the majority
of the leadership theories in the field, and discusses the major
competency clusters in detail, providing research on each competency and
practical guidelines for improvement. These competencies are graphically
portrayed in a Leadership Action cycle. The text features a 360 degree
leadership assessment instrument that the student can administer in his
or her organization. Every question links back to the text and provides
strategies for organizational and leader improvement.
The purpose of this site is to provide instructor resources to
facilitate the use of this text for traditional in-class or on-line
courses. The site provides slides for each chapter, a sample course
outline, downloadable versions of the 360 degree assessment,
supplemental guidance for conducting the assessment, a suggested term
paper to integrate the assessment and the text and suggested activities
to support chapter learning objectives.
